Bulletin Greeting: November 2, 2025 (All Souls Day)

Today, as we commemorate the souls of all the faithful departed, the Church invites us to reflect deeply on the mercy and hope we have in Jesus Christ. Pope Francis chose Misericordes sicut Pater — “Merciful like the Father” — as the motto for the Jubilee Year of Mercy in 2015. Those words continue to echo in our hearts today, reminding us God’s mercy is forever.

From the moment of our baptism, we encounter the Father’s boundless mercy. Through the waters of rebirth, we are claimed as His beloved children and given the hope of eternal life. On this All Souls Day, as we pray for our loved ones and all who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith, we recall that same hope; the promise that death is not the end, but a passage toward the fullness of life in God.

In today’s Mass we prayed, “Listen kindly to our prayers, O Lord, and, as our faith in your Son raised from the dead is deepened, so may our hope of resurrection for your departed servants also find new strength.” Hope is that beautiful virtue that keeps our hearts anchored in the promise of heaven. As St. Paul reminds us, “Our citizenship is in heaven.” We are pilgrims on a journey, sustained by grace and guided by the light of Christ.

Pope Francis reminds us that when the Church celebrates the funeral liturgy, it is always a hope-filled prayer for the soul of the departed and for the consolation of those who mourn. Today, nourished by the Body and Blood of Christ, we renew that same hope: that one day, we may all be reunited in the glory of the risen Lord, where our lowly bodies will be transformed to be like His.

On Monday evening (Nov. 3rd) at 7pm at Holy Trinity and St. Mary, we will celebrate a Memorial Mass to pray for and remember those from our family of parishes who have passed away during this last year. I invite you to join us for this time of prayer and remembrance. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
